Abdul Motaleb also known as ‘Khejur Motaleb’ is the son of the late Nurul Islam of Paragaon village of Habirbari Union, a remote area of Bhaluka Upazila, Mymensingh.
To achieve economic freedom, he went to Saudi Arabia in 1998. He took a Job at a date garden which paid him BDT 10,000 equivalent monthly. During that time, he thought of growing dates in Bangladesh. After 3 years of work in Saudi Arabia, he returned to Bangladesh with date seeds in 2001 with a vision of growing dates in Bangladesh. After trying for 3 years and despite all odds, he became successful in growing Saudi dates in 2004. Now he is selling the plants and dates for over BDT 1 Crore a year. He is an example of a successful NRB entrepreneur in agriculture and became a role model for others.
