Professor Tanweer Hasan has been chosen for the NRB Day Award 2023 for his excellent contribution to academia and for successfully leading one of the best universities in the private sector in Bangladesh.

Professor Tanweer Hasan, Vice-Chancellor of the Independent University, Bangladesh is a renowned personality in academia.  A Rolf A Weil Professor of Finance at Roosevelt University (IL, USA), Prof Hasan joined the university as its VC, in February 2021 for a four year term.  Prof Hasan has a distinguished career in various administrative capacities, including associate provost at Roosevelt University (planning and budget), associate dean and director of MBA programme, and founding executive director of the finance honors programme at the College of Business of the same university. As associate provost, he was also involved in developing new programmes like its PharmD Program and joint programmes like MBA/IO Psychology, MBA/MS Criminal Justice, MBA/Healthcare Administration, etc.

Prof Hasan completed his MBA from Baylor University (TX, USA) in 1989 and Bachelor of Commerce in finance from University of Dhaka in 1986. Prof Hasan also completed the Management Development Program (MDP) from Harvard University (MA, USA) and obtained PhD in Finance from the University of Houston in 1993.  He has more than 40 published articles in reputed business and economics journals. He served as editor, guest editor, and editorial board member of several journals and also presented his works in 37 countries. He lead the Independent University, Bangladesh to an enviable height.
